It’s dark outside. Like, November in Finland dark. We only have a few fleeting minutes of sunlight each week, which makes posting original content from the farm a little difficult with the equipment + time I have available.
So, I thought I’d recycle a document I made about my parent’s place back in the United States. It is a 147 pages long and walks through the site analysis, goal setting, initial design and patterning, along with some follow ups in the early years.
I made it five years ago as a supplement to an application for a local university (I didn’t get in- too many missing science credits from my previous History studies). It was subsequently published on Permaculture News as well as being painstakingly translated into Chinese for a book on natural gardening.
It is amazing to look back and see how I was thinking a half decade ago and how it relates to what I was doing before moving to Finland. There’s a lot I would reword of course, but much of it stands the test of time.
I hope you enjoy the read and get some inspiration!
